Company Remanufactures Hydros with Care
“Hydrostatic transmission remanufactures can save a lot of money, but they’re usually not ‘do it yourself projects’”, says Raleigh Ordoyne of Herrs Machine (HM). The company has been rebuilding hydrostatic transmissions since 1969. They outgrew their original home-based business and built a larger new building in 1988 to accommodate the growth. Some of the more common Hydros they work on are out of combines, skid loaders, swathers, sprayers, construction equipment, and rear wheel assist motors on combines. They are most well known for International Harvester (IH) hydro tractors. They offer tractor rebuilds or remanufacture exchange hydro’s, or they can overhaul your entire tractor. Sometimes a hydro rebuild isn’t necessary, when a small component like an MCV, drive control valve and foot & inch valve or a discontinued item such as a speed control lever or shift plate is worn. Herrs Machine is having these discontinued parts replicated along with drive control lines, servo springs and 13 spline input shafts. As part of the Hydro experience, all units are completely disassembled, cleaned and inspected to evaluate all damages and determine the cause of failure to prevent it from happening again. Free repair quotes are provided for your approval, prior to all repairs. Every component is inspected for the next process. If the part doesn’t meet the required tolerances, then a new part will be installed in its place. In addition to their remanufacturing service, they keep a large inventory of parts, pumps and exchange dyno-tested, readyto-bolt-in remanufactured hydros. Their test stands allow all units to be checked for leaks and are ran at operating temperature. They are able to set charge, servo and drive pressure to manufacturers specifications. After the initial test is completed, all units are subject to a case pressure test to ensure all gaskets and the shaft seals are sealing properly. They can also quote freight trucks (coast to coast) at an insured-discounted rate. For price quotes or technical help call (785) 325-2875 or e-mail to herrshydro@ yahoo.com.
